Russia’s Kamaz hopes to raise market share by 4 pp to 55% 2016
KAZAN, Feb 3 (PRIME) -- Top Russian truck maker Kamaz plans to increase its market share by 4 percentage points to 55% in 2016, Rafail Gafeyev, CEO of foreign trade affiliate of the company, said during an industry forum on Wednesday.
“In spite of a market fall last year, Kamaz received its bonus – a rise of its market share: we reached 51% on the market for heavy trucks. We plan to reach 54-55% this year,” he said.
A 75% fall of the Russian truck market since 2012 has put Kamaz under pressure -- the company decreased truck production by over 33% in 2013–2015, Gafeyev said.
Nevertheless, Kamaz believes it has passed the bottom and plans to achieve some production growth in 2016.
Kamaz operates over 150 units in Russia, the CIS and other countries, including 12 large plants in Russia.
